About TCM
Treating the pattern, not just the symptom
Traditional Chinese Medicine looks at how your symptoms connect, from sleep and digestion to energy, mood and stress, and treats the pattern behind them. Your practitioner chooses herbal formulas and techniques for your constitution and adjusts them as you progress.
Chinese herbal medicine has been refined over centuries to help the body regain its self-regulating functions and improve overall vitality. One example is the Three Yellow Cleanser (San Huang Xi Ji), traditionally used for many skin disorders, including acne, eczema, dermatitis, rashes and psoriasis.
TCM is often used for
- Digestive concerns
- Sleep problems
- Stress & anxiety
- Fatigue & low energy
- Pain & tension
- Allergies
- Immune support
- Eczema & dermatitis
- Psoriasis
- Acne & rashes
- Women’s health & hormonal balance
- Menopause, hot flashes & night sweats
Please tell your practitioner about any medications or supplements you take, including hormone therapy, so herbal formulas can be prescribed safely.

Who is TCM for?
Everyone. People come to us for digestion, sleep, stress, pain, skin conditions and women’s health, among other concerns. Your practitioner will tell you at your first visit whether TCM is a good fit for you.
Are herbs safe with my medications?
Tell your practitioner about every medication and supplement you take, including hormone therapy. Formulas are chosen with that in mind, and your practitioner may ask you to check with your doctor.
How are the herbs taken?
That depends on the formula your practitioner prescribes. They will explain how to take it and how long to continue, and review it at each follow-up.
Is TCM covered by insurance?
Coverage for herbal medicine varies by plan, so please check with your insurer. Acupuncture is covered by many extended health plans, and we direct bill most major providers.
